Hey, I'm Rizhan.
I'm a software developer from Malaysia, currently based in Kuala Lumpur. I've always found it a little hard to fully explain who I am through words, so I usually let the things I build speak for me.
By day, I work as a Senior Software Engineer at **nesso (encrypted for anonymity), building mobile apps, backend systems, and digital products. I started out from an engineering background, but somewhere along the way I fell deeply into software, design, and the feeling of turning a rough idea into something real.
Outside of work, I run Risk Creatives, a small solo studio where I experiment with ideas that sit between design, engineering, AI, and everyday life. I'm currently building Waktu, a clean prayer times and widgets app made for Muslims who want something simple, reliable, and beautiful. I'm also exploring products around personal finance (Kira), photo cleaning (cln.), voice journaling, Islamic reflection, and small AI-powered tools that help people make sense of their day.
Some other things I've built: Teenage Radio, a retrofuturistic radio app, and Puzzl, a daily word puzzle game.
I'm not really interested in building things just for the sake of building. I want my work to carry a bit of intention. Whether it's a prayer app, a finance assistant, a photo cleaner, or a tiny daily tool, I like the idea that software can quietly make someone's life feel lighter.
I'm still learning how to balance ambition with peace. I can get obsessive about craft, growth, and making something great, but I'm also trying to slow down more, be grateful, and remember that life is not only about shipping the next thing.
At the core, I think I'm just someone who likes to build, reflect, and keep trying. Some days that means writing code. Some days that means redesigning the same screen ten times. Some days it just means taking a step back and remembering why I started.
Life is short, time is precious, and there's always more to learn. But if there's anything worth optimizing for, it's the people you love, the work that gives you purpose, and the kind of person you become while chasing it.
“And that there is not for man except that for which he strives.”
Surah An-Najm 53:39
A reflection I'm holding onto:
Allah owns the outcome, but He still sees the effort. So keep showing up. No sincere striving is ever wasted.
